2 weeks ago, I fell in the pool while cleaning it with my Galaxy S7 in my pocket with no ill effect on the phone. This alone justifes my switch from Apple. So I am not afraid to post from my pool on a hot, late-summer day.

I put one of these on my iPhone the day I got it. I’ve dropped the phone from ten feet up onto cement and taken underwater photos and video. No problem.

I’ve always clad my iPhones in Otterbox Defenders, but I never really thought they would help with water resistance until my gf dropped hers in the (clean) toilet last weekend.
It spent a precautionary two hours in rice, but powered up fine and is running like a top.

I’ve been using the (discontinued) Otterbox Preserver, which is fully waterproof. It allows for shenanigans like this

I did try a mil-spec Otterbox whose name I’ve forgotten on my 4s. It was fully waterproof and awesome protection (said it would resist being run over by a humvee), but it totally blocked the microphone and could only be used for actual talking with a Bluetooth headset. I preferred the utility of talking, so I returned to the Defender I’d had before.

I tripped over a rut jogging a trail with the phone in my hand with an otter case. I loaded on the phone screen down and it was fine. They make Awesome cases.
