Kinja'd!!!

The stock steering radius is terrible considering the cars size.(not much shorter than an ls400) Fixed that with Battle Version rack spacers and modifying the knuckle.

13/16 of an inch was removed and the pickup was lowered as a bump-steer correction. Some halfassed calculations were done to ensure centering wouldn’t happen(tie rod being parallel with the knuckle leading to a lock on the steering, because the arc to pull against is gone)

They sat out in the rain for a little while so the bearings were toast but I finally got new bearings pressed in and got the knuckles back in the car.

That’s substantial.

Interesting. I was wondering if this sort of thing was possible with other cars. For example, I’ve heard the Ford C-Max (at least here in North America) has a poor turning radius, and I wondered if there would be a way to remedy it.

Normally it would be somewhat easy, just have knuckle shortened slightly or use rack spacers(washers at the end of the rack behind the inner tie rod that allow the rack to move further left to right before stopping) but being FWD there might be a problem with how far the cv’s can articulate

That’s kinda neat

I just like the faster ratio that comes with shorter knuckles. Overnight my Cressida felt more like the FC3S RX7 I used to own.

If I had Powersteering id enjoy that part too. Any pics of the Cressida?(I’ve got a soft spot for Toyota/Lexus)

Kinja'd!!!

Cressidas drive great when you basically replace every moving part with modified stuff lol.

That’s amazing, im slowly going down that road of replacing everything too. Is that bar behind the headlights part of a tube front or is it a stock bar and Toyota’s just unimaginative?

I bet you could swap in a focus rack. Both cars are built on the global c platform.

When I got the car with about 60,000 miles in 2004 somehow the rad support got snagged when someone tried to remove the engine. It just always looked fixed so I just cut it out and put in a bar, which made mounting the intercooler a little easier but regrettably lead to using hood pins.
