Earlier today, I was thinking about how I want another rental car to hoon sometime. Then, a few hours later, a Maxima decides to get up close and personal with Aretha.
Fun fact: the steering is dead center. If this thing manages to get totaled from who knows how much suspension damage, I’m gonna be more than a bit pissed.

I can almost promise you you’re in for a strut, inner, outer (or both) tie rod ends, and probably a wheel bearing.
Probably won’t total (bit of a guess not knowing mileage), but if expect $1800-2500 to get it back to right.

I was just rattling off suspension stuff, but you’re probably right.
It’s hard to tell if the wheel bent, or it’s just the wheel cover.
Aluminum wheels are worth repairing sometimes, pending damage and replacement cost. Steelies almost always get replaced with a used wheel when damaged.

Yeah, I can’t imagine it will be cheap. When I hit that tire, damages totaled around $2000 somehow, and it was all cosmetic.

My blood started to boil when I let off the brake to idle forward and the car didn’t move. That realization that I’m not driving home in it was pretty frustrating.

I zoomed in on the wheel, and it looks pretty bent, though that could be one of those plastic covers over a steely I suppose (Mazda does that on base models, and I hate it).
I noticed that because I just dealt with a similar issue. In my case it was a gouged rim, but even though it was still straight, it was worth it to replace them outright once I met my deductible. Once into that kind of money, might as well and avoid any zombie issues down the road.
