Need help in making a decision on a Fiat Project car or a trip to Cali this fall.

The car- 1978 Fiat Spider, currently apart but body is solid and everything is with it. With selling my side by side, i dont have anything to tinker with when i get bored, so this would fill that gap for a long time (over half the time i had the RZR, it was getting something added to it because why not).

The trip- ~a week to 1.5 weeks, staying at friends places for some, hotels/airbnbs for the other and will be in LA and SF. Renting a convertible with a friend (he’s already going, but i may tag along)

You can always find another 1978 Fiat Spider, but Cali may secede and then you will need a visa and a passport to visit it.

You can always go to California, but finding another 1978 Fiat Spider in decent shape is becoming more and more impossible.

There. I hope that helped.

This right here is the only solution.

Rust is the big issue with 124 Spiders...there is actually not a lot too them mechanical, etc wise, so if they are fixed up right, they are actually decently reliable.

Driving it to Cali would definitely be an adventure!

Experiences are usually better than stuff... can’t go back and buy another trip in the past, but you can always get another tinker car. (Disclaimer - above advise coming from somebody who would have 12 cars if I had the money.)

Yeah, this one appears (key word) to have all the rust fixed and be ready for paint and put back together (i’m sure ill have to hunt down some trim but all major parts are there). Its definitely a little on high side price wise, but its been for sale for over a year too.

Yeah, i’m with you there. I have always wanted a car to put back together though to, so it kinda hits both (if i get it at the right price).
