Couldnt you sell the fiesta and then buy an LS while pocketing whatever’s extra?

Yeah but would it be worth the increased cost of ownership?

That’s why I’m seriously considering it.

Yes if you value quite interior, decent torque. And general luxuryness

Get a PPI on the Lexus before proceeding - someone you trust and hire. It’s not a bad deal, but if there are hidden issues it could be worse than a bad deal.

Seems like a reasonable tradeoff.

I’ve got a 97 LS400 with 232,000 miles in it and I wholeheartedly say that you should. It’s an absolutely fantastic car. Let me know if you have any questions!

I’m for it.

Then again I did basically the same thing. Bought a 2002 LS430 after returning my 2015 Golf TDI.

Nice. For what it’s worth, my last two tanks of gas commuting at about 60mph.

02 GS430 24mpg average

00 GS300 28mpg average

They are solid cars, was just thinking about how many of my co-workers bought Elantras, Mazda 3's 5's, Versas, etc new, went through their life cycle, started hating their car problems, getting rid of it, etc... While I would just always show up in the unchanged GS430 that just gets oil changes and basic maintenance. They can have little issues like our GS300 needed an ABS sensor re-mounted because some flake rust pushed it out of it’s mounting, but most fixes just require a clever approach.

The Fiesta is getting to that mileage where you’re going to have to start replacing everything. The Lexus probably has everything replaced. Might have lower cost of ownership in the medium-run.

Two cars less similar than a fiesta and a LS400 I have not seen. That’s like asking “should I sell my house to buy an RV.”

Honestly, if there’s a lot you like about the fiesta, there will be a lot less you like about the LS400. I tried going from a mazdadpeed protege to a vq35 top trim maxima and sold it after like 4 months.

That LS is beautiful. As someone that bought a 1997 LX with 130k miles, you could bank on some amount of reliability from that LS but just remember to account for 20 year old stuff going bad that doesn’t normally go bad on a <10 year old car.

To make things more even, you could trade in a $6k fiesta for a $3k Lexus LS400 with a $3k LS swap :D
