bit of a ghetto setup, running off an external drive that is too thick to fit
but yeah, Pentium M 1.8GHz and 2GB RAM (max’d out) sadly means this can’t even be used for basic browsing anymore... on an OS that uses less than 200MB RAM idle.
this one below is the 2005 T42 my sister gave me in 2010 which I used a lot for college
sadly XGA but I ended up replacing it with the SXGA+ screen, see more pixels!
The T42 is my favorite laptop ever. 4:3, amazing build quality, great touchpad + keyboard, easy maintenance and reliable.

Back when I used ThinkPads, I regularly told people “my screen is closer in proportion to a sheet of paper. This is for work.” I think it made me retroactively a virgin every time I said that.

We use an old Accuterm program at work that always displays the same amount of text in the window regardless of the shape or size of the window. Most of my coworkers stretch their window to fit the entire screen, which looks *terrible* when you’re reading text on a widescreen monitor. I use the full height of the screen but leave some dead space on the sides to approximate a 4:3 aspect ratio because stretching text horizontally beyond that doesn’t make it more legible.

I have alighte FF on it but it’s still not great for browsing... HTML5 heavy pages and especially stuff like imgur, YouTube, etc. crawl like cockroaches in your bed whilst you sleep
