I need to update the Galant’s radio. My car didn’t get the option CD player, one of only two options on the 91 VR-4, the other was a sunroof, which I do have. Even if it had it probably wouldn’t work anymore, just like my tape deck which doesn’t work any more. Also my antenna is broken off.

So my car has, port radio reception, no tape deck, and no CD player. And obviously no AUX because my car is older than Cell phones, not to mention MP3 players.

Anyway I want to upgrade/update my headunit. I’d like a single DIN so I can also add a storage cubby/maybe gauges if my car ever gets seriously modified. My only other requirements are that it can’t look gawdy, the more OEM it looks the better. And it need to have a rear mounted AUX jack so I can run the cord into the center console where it can hid when I want my car to look period correct.

Retrosound. Same thing I have. Looks great in older cars, modern features and good support. Built in amp that will be more powerful than the stock system if you don’t want to grab a separate amp

It’s kinda hard to find a subtle aftermarket head unit. I finally settled on a Pioneer because I could customize the colors. You could always hide a second head unit.

I have thought about that, especially since all I’ll ever use it for is the aux Jack, or USB if it has one.

You should be able to fit the stereos of the 91-93 3000GTs. 2 versions have an Aux and the top digital version of the OEM stereo looks ‘modern’ and can control the CD changer (Kids, ask your parents if you dont know what a car CD changer is) but I think only the 2-DIN size came with AUX

Color is the other hard part, my cars interior lights are that seafoam green color a lot of 90s cars have, but more headunits are blue, or red, and as bring as possible.

The one I have is full RGB colors. I was able to get it pretty close to my 96 Civic’s white/orangish dash lights. I’m running it all white now and it doesn’t look too out of place.

Found one, it weird that a car that old would have an AUX Jack, my buddy is car shopping and he’s worried that some of the 06-10 cars he’s looking at won’t have one, http://www.ebay.com/itm/91-92-93-99-98-97-96-94-95-Mitsubishi-3000gt-oem-infinity-cassette-radio-stereo-/362008600280?hash=item544964ded8:g:m-MAAOSwXY5ZQYRK&vxp=mtr

Just got a Kenwood for the g35 that I like with rear input and very comprehensive eq and Drive EQ (sound enhancements.) And color adjustable . I set it to orange to match my cars climate controls.

This one is just like my model but no HD radio. Rear usb and aux and Bluetooth

There was like a small period where portable CD players were easily available and cheap enough, but Tape Players were still the standard when a few cars had aux ports.

My Subaru Legacy is the same, from ‘91 but rocking an aux input.

What i’m doing however is fitting an optional OEM kenwood headunit I found at a junkyard that has a CD autochanger. You can find adapters that plug into the port for the auto changer that allows you to use bluetooth for playback, which for me is much better.
