Kinja'd!!!

As I mentioned earlier, I’m pretty sure the Evo is dead. Found this fold in the trunk while cleaning it out. Not good. Not good at all.

Give the impact that totaled my 2007 Corolla a couple weeks ago had the Corolla looking to be in a bit better shape, my advice is start shopping now.
I would look up your car locally to see what comps the insurance might pull when they assign value.

Just make it into a track car now if possible. The world needs more Evos.

Thought this was an odd coincidence for an article.

Are both sides buckled like that, or just the drivers side? Is the image from the first post the underside of this rail? Any photos of the front damage to structure, or exterior? Did the left quarter buckle around the wheel opening? How does the trunk fit/open/close?

You might be surprised. I just did a quick and dirty NADA lookup on a 2003 Evo with 187K miles, and a clean retail price in my zip is $11,450. Pending legality in your area/policy, it wouldn’t surprise me to see an insurance carrier drop $8-9k into that repair, if not the full $11k.

If anything, NADA documentation gives you decent leverage to bitch and get as fair a settlement as possible.

This makes me sad.... how much for... all of it. I’ll give you 3 dollars, and the biggest hug you’ve ever seen.

My Galant could use some upgrades. From radiator to rear axle.

How about...just don’t tell the insurance company.

Is it driving crooked? Does the bumper fit on ok?

If you genuinely like it, and don’t expect much for resale, there’s sod all reason to speak to an insurance company. You’ll probably get a minimal payout that covers the purchase of a worse car, and they’ll bump up your insurance premiums for the next 5 years to claw their money back.

There are a fair few accident repair companies who will be able to straighten it out at least somewhat for not very much at all. When my mate spoke to them when his Peugeot 406 was driven into they admitted that they quote significantly higher for insurance jobs as it’s a cash-cow.

Perhaps it’s just my bias as coming from the UK. Insurance companies are basically useless for anything that’s not medical or totalling someone else’s car. Even then, I’ve found that for anything sub-£4000 it usually works out cheaper to get a loan and pay the interest than speak to your insurance company and have your premiums hiked.
