I sent in a thing about Bring a Trailer; got a response from Patrick George but he politely declined. Very reasonable and responsive for me personally.

Yeah I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a response. Nothing was really stupid either. My best avenue has been texting Tom McParland but I try to leave him alone unless I’m reaching about buying a car(which is happenjng soon hopefully)

Eh, that’s not necessarily the case—if a thing is going around the internet, sometimes we see it on our own somewhere before we notice it’s in tips. We’re all kind of picking through the same sources, after all. So, it’s nothing personal and not an intentional oversight, really.

I do try to remember the H/Ts when I nab something sent in via tips. Getting a H/T is too dang satisfying when you’re the tipster.

Haha. Tips is less like a trashcan/garbage truck and more like a fire hose. There’s so much coming through there that it’s almost overwhelming! We try our best to go through it all every day, though.

If we do use something we saw in tips, we absolutely try to credit it back to the tipster and usually send a note of thanks back if it’s tipped us off ot something new, but no offense is meant if we don’t respond. I’d love to send everybody back a personal note thanking them for any and all tips, but there’s just not enough time in the day for that.
