Vancouver needs to double or triple the tax on offshore money laundering/real estate purchases, and use the funds for road maintenance.
Seattle needs to follow suit.

It’s amazing how many people think we just need to increase housing density and more people take transit. There are so many empty units, and transit is maxed out at rush hour. The roads are well beyond capacity

Exactly the same here. Apartment buildings built without parking. Housing crisis with countless units sitting idle due to speculators and residency buyers. No questions asked about sources of money. Crumbling roads, weak transit, growing population.

Really, really bad traffic though. I prefer manual on my usual drive to work, and about half the places I usually go. Anywhere into Vancouver proper though, or crossing the bridge to North Van and it’s crawling most of the time.

I lived in So Cal with 3 stick shifts had to drive 15 miles took and hour and half, still wouldn’t drive a auto, Did the same in the SF Bay Area before that..I’ve never owned and auto nor has my wife..I used to love jeeps with four low you could just put it in gear and crawl, this was especially good on the trips to the mountains were stop an go traffic lasted for hours just to go 30 miles. If everyone drove a manual we wouldn’t have such bad traffic problems.

Oh geez, yeah maybe if I’d only had manuals I’d feel different, but I really don’t mind auto most of the time.
