Hopelessly in love with the poor man’s 2002. Told my wife last night to start budgeting for me to get one, even if it’s a rolling shell. Want to do a full interior and mostly true exterior restoration when I finally have one, with more modern running gear and power. No previous restoration (or even much mechanical) experience.

I’m certain it’s a bad idea, but I gotta have one. Any projections on whether they’re gonna go nuts in become super pricey to find? Seeing beaters for like $2k these days...

I, too, love the 510, but I can’t see myself getting a sedan when the coupes and wagons exist.

There are a LOT of wagons for sale. I love wagons as much as anyone here (maybe not quite that much, but I do love ‘em to the extent that my wife now knows that it’s pretty much only wagons on the table when the real car purchase happens again) but when I stare at all three models, the sedan does the most for me!

Coincidentally, it’s also the hardest to find. So who knows what I hypothetically end up with. Less rusty floor pans to replace in the coupe!

I have a 240Z but I would take a wagon to play with. I think coupes are the hardest to find and the most expensive.

Lucky! Pics, pls.

All my searches have yielded more coupes than anything else. I’d normally say wagon, then couple, then sedan, but the 510 is a special case of sedan, coupe, wagon.

Maybe I just need to stare at the wagons more.

Really no excuse, but I tried to find them and felt like I wasn’t good enough at that. Thanks for sharing.

It’s a beaut, Clark. Absolutely love the paint.

I was in the 510 thing for about 10 years... Had two wagons, and I know the guy who built that blue car.

15 years ago, a decent one could be had for a song, and one with some nice upgrades could be found for $2-3k. I’ve been out of the 510 thing for a few years now,but I can tell you that they’re increasing in price every day. Even junkers are bringing a good price to their sellers. Unless you get lucky and find one that some little old lady has kept in a garage for the last 50 years...

I sold two wagons in non running but repairable shape, along with all of the parts to get them going again, including spare body panels and engine blocks for $3500 about 4 years ago.

Good luck in finding one. If you’re in Texas I could probably still point to someone who might be able to help in that regard...

Oh and please don’t put modern wheels on a classic, it looks awful.

That’s what scares me. I’m seeing them from $2k to $5k and have this feeling they’re only going up. If I can find a decent body for $3k or so, that’s fine, but a LOT of what I see needs so much time and energy put into just saving the body...and we haven’t even gotten into everything else.

yeah. Always start with the best one you can find. It’s that finding a good one that will be time consuming, and in the end cost more, but be well worth it.

I would love to have a 510 wagon. Would be awesome with that you’re describing - exterior restoration and fresh drivetrain

No to the roof rack. No to the black hood. No to the mismatching tints in the headlights and fog lights (on any car). Ride height isn’t terrible. Can’t see the wheels enough to weigh in. So I guess I’d like to fully restore one with minor modifications, most of which are under the hood and under the car.

And for the record, I love that blue car posted above, except the wheels. I’d go a little more period looking.

The wagon is growing on me...

Those are in Japan at a meeting. I go back sometimes. Hood is carbon, that one with the roof rack off for the trip is really a track car.
