My wife and I are sharing her car while mine is in the shop for fancy new brakes and unexpected bonus fancy new 335is clutch . I got to take the car to work today, so of course I had to park it next to this stupid Crosstrek to show how stupid it is.

When we were shopping for her car, my wife’s reaction to the Crosstrek was, “why does that one have all that ugly extra black plastic crap stuck on it?” My wife is smart.

Clearly the one on the right is capable of besting the Rubicon trail where yours can barely make it through a rainy highway! /sarcasm

Honestly though, the only advantage that the Crosstrek has over the Imprezza is the awesome colors

I can confirm the Impreza is significantly more capable than my lowered 335xi at traversing overly steep suburban Wisconsin parking lot driveways without scraping.

I did the Crosstrek it’s basically what the Forester was before the Forester got bigger, and less fun. If we had been shopping New my wife would probably have a Crosstrek instead of a Fit, but they weren’t/still aren’t anywhere near the 11,000 we paid for out Fit 2 years ago.

While I’d rather have a WRX than an Crosstrek, I’d rather have a Crosstrek than a normal Impreza.

Even though the new Forester is a lot bigger than the original, the Forester has always been a bigger, taller, boxier body on the Impreza platform.

The Crosstrek is the continuation of the Outback Sport, in that it’s an Outbacktified Impreza hatch/wagon.

Strangely, the 2012 Impreza apparently had a very similar 2-tone paint option but without the lifted suspension, that I’ve never seen in person, but Motor Trend had as a long-term test car .
