I’ve asked this before a long time ago but how do you all bring home the bacon? What eats up your time and happiness and feeds your automotive addiction? 

You can share how you found the job or what you spend your money on too. I’m a student at Colorado state and My bacon comes from a series of hustles such as music producing, and flipping bikes, cars, and various other commodities.

I also work with my friend who has a startup company that modernizes and automates houses with motion sensors, cameras, voice control, Amazon Alexa type things, sophisticated programs and schedules, alarms, smartphone controlled everything and that type of stuff.

Everything else is mine but here is a bonus street find in Boulder CO

Hell yeah, its all about that SCX-10. Great little scale crawler.

I work for Turn 10 studios doing vehicle research and design. It doesn’t pay very well, but i like it because I’m a car nerd who’s also a video game nerd. I got it by testing video games for a couple of years for next to nothing until i eventually had the connections/resume to get a “real” job in the games industry.

Engineer in upperbody electrical/electronics systems for Ford. Specifically audio/multimedia/infotainment.

no, I won’t tell you anything that hasn’t been publicly released, so don’t ask.

I got my start with cars via my auto mechanic dad. I was a state-licensed mechanic before I was old enough to get my driver’s license (15) thanks to high school auto shop. I even went to the nationals for the Ford-AAA Student Auto Skills competition in Washington D.C. in 1994. After that I got my engineering degree and went to work for several automotive suppliers until I ended up here.

I’m a former mazda/current Honda tech with an interview at an auto supplier tomorrow for a job, hopefully it goes well! I’m tired of working on cars lol, and most of my career was in Denver where it was nicer but here in Chicago it sucks so hard.

I have a BEd with a teaching degree for Upper Elementary, Jr. High and High School, so I am a substitute teacher looking for a full-time job right now in Education somewhere.

I also work some shifts at the local fast food place, and work some shifts as a clerk at the local library....and also do computer repair and tutoring on the side.

I teach (old) people how to use all the tech in their new/new-to-them Japanese luxury vehicle.

I post on here occasionally, usually a string of barely coherent, angry, liberal talking points. I’m basically a feral hippie who dresses well and has learned how to communicate via the internet.

I answered this last week. So I’ll paraphrase.

I sell OE car parts to people who have no idea what they are doing. Sometimes amateur some professional. They all think they are entitled to a lower price even if I’ve never met them before and they have nothing to prove they own a business. So in short, I talk to morons all day. I could have a job in government with all this experience.
