Let me think... you could choose Indianapolis (snore), Detroit (NOPE), or Cleveland (*snicker*), ORRRRR you can come hang in San Antonio, AUSTIN, or Dallas for the next eclipse!!! This ain’t even a competition.

Considering how crazy this year’s event was, I might just start trying to reserve some ranches (three, so I can plan for weather, because April in Texas can get rainy) and host a big shindig.

I always found the northern MX/ US barbacoa more palatable for Americans. Delicious indeed.

Real barbacoa is hella rare to find in TX for sure. It’s made of sheep wrapped in leaves instead of beef, cooked literally in a hole right there on the ground and chopped on a piece of wood.

Seriously, I would consider such an event, especially if combined with Oppo-friendly activities (local autocross event nearby, maybe?) and a roadtrip to get there. However, I may still have family in western NY in 2024, and I would probably go spend time with them. Probably.

The worst part of planning this kind of event would be the weather. A good forecast would be needed, and the ability to change venues 150-200 miles away if the clouds didn’t cooperate would be a headache.
