Work so far: dug up install guide that customer lost (?), examined doing impossible thing, made a piece of plastic square instead of round, and bunch of changes to something because parts are wrong and they *also* didn’t make what my drawing said.
I’m sure that the actual important and not crazy things I came in for today and that are why I’m not blowing off today will come up at some point. Totally sure.

My work today:
Colleague at sister office is responsible for a special publication but sucks at design. I had to fix it ALL at the last minute last year, so this year I said “give me all the content by X day (last Friday) and I’ll put it all together.”
It’s Monday and I’m still waiting for a lot of the content.
We publish Thursday morning. And I still have two other publications to put together by then, too.
I love cleaning up other people’s messes. /s
On the plus side, this weekend Olive Garden was having their “buy one, take one” sale, so I’ve got a huge plate of baked ziti and some breadsticks chilling in the office fridge. Come lunch time, I will devour them like Garfield devours lasagna. Mmmmmmmm, carbs! And cheese! The two most important food groups.

It’s arguable to what extent it’s another specific person’s mess, per se, but one of the things that’s an important-no-seriously-we-need-this-rolling project today is revising a layout of some 40+ panels and angles and things because the plan made one of our guys engage Maximum ComplicatoDrive, and now I have to “simplify” it. H’okay. That’ll be a redraw of like ten or fifteen things, a couple more hours of figuring out the “how”, messing about in the parts management system, and basically taking ownership of the whole thing so when it inevitably goes derp, my fault - probably.
Then there’s the “ha ha seriously what is feedback” project that I have out for comment and need to poke with a stick, because it’s not going forward until I know how much it sucks and what parts.
Then the “simple, but needs about five or six hours of undivided attention” project that is due on the Idon’tknowth of Timeuary, so is probably urgent.
If I get home at any sane time (ha!) I may be able to try to replace and retune the automatic choke parts on the galaxie. Because gas smells and faily starts when hot.

I am still dealing with the Dumb from last week.
I flew in from Kuwait after being there for 30 days. Took close to 27 hours to get me home. I was exhausted and logged 100+ hours for the pay period of 80 hours.
I was lounging till the pay period ended as I had way over hours and then I got a call wondering why I wasn’t at work...wut?
Apparently they wanted me to get off the plane and return to work. Umm....no.
It then turned into one of the dumbest arguments I’ve ever had the privilege of being a part of. My entire team was equally baffled. I was told I needed to take Vacation time since I didn’t come in, despite having 100+ hours. I refused.
What a mess.
