Kinja'd!!!

My boss somewhat “okayed” me to park a small bike either downstairs by the elevator or in the larger room upstairs.

Now the question I have for all the Oppo’s of the bike variety, is a Grom a good buy for my situation? My round trip to work is 7.5-8 miles, max speed (legally) is 35, it’s all through the suburbs basically. I can’t really get anything larger than a Grom/Z125 as my boss would say “No...park outside.” Worth noting, parking outside isn’t really an option as I’d either pay to park or have to park far away for free.

My commute is 12 miles. The roads I travel on are also 35 max. Honestly the Grom is perfect for the commute. Where it falls short is going for “rides”.

I highly doubt I’ll be taking it further than to work and around town, so I don’t think i’ll worry about rides for now

Both could work; I have to measure the area at my job where I’d end up parking these

Get a grom.

If the grom is an acceptable size, Kawasaki makes the z125. May be worth cross shopping- atleast as a means to get a good deal

I’m also considering the purchase of a Grom for commuting. Though I haven’t ridden one, it seems like a good balance of price/fun/power and speed if you’re not going over 45-50mph as you mentioned.

Yea and I take the Grom on rides too, and it’s still laugh out loud fun. I just won’t touch the highway or stay on it for long periods of time.

That’s what made me look at it. It’s compact enough to fit in my office (in theory), i can stash it in my garage too without issue, and it just seems like a thrill

Would you drive a smart car if you could get free parking?

Yes.

The town I work in caps street parking at an hour and they’re VERY strict about it.

Well.. There you go then...

Personally, I’d find a larger displacement bike, but show that it’s footprint isn’t any bigger than a grom to try to park it for free..

Harley Davidson CVO ultraglide with a screaming eagle stage 3 kit.

Super quiet and non obtrusive. You could keep it at your desk. No one would even notice I bet!

Had to dig to find this post, but what are the dimensions of a Grom? I measured the elevator in my job and from top left corner to bottom right corner it’s 87", it’s 64" wide. Would a Grom fit diagonally?

I found the info below in a forum, but I’d be happy to verify when I get home tonight.

41 in. high to the handlebars, minus the mirrors which can come off easily. 36 in high to the top of the tank if you remove or move the handlebars.

68 in tire to tire (or front tire to the diving board)

20 in wide blinker to blinker (widest part of the body)

30 in wide handlebars, but you be able to turn these

Seems like it will fit diagonally!

It’s just over 200lbs as well, so you can muscle it around if you have to to make it fit. I ride my right in the basement door, the handle bars don’t even touch.

I just need to find the weight limit of the elevator now and finesse my way for my boss to allow me to do this
