We need to forget all this shit and unify around the glory of our vans. What happened to glorious custom vans?
We have lost our way. We used to know that a hot party van was the shit, no matter your color or creed. Ok, there was probably too much cocaine involved, but who among us can judge?
Before I die, I want to tour the nation with wife and dog in a funky 70s van hauling a trailer with Sunchaser and Vespa. Is this too big of a dream?

Kidding. This would be an awesome life goal. Although you don’t need to tour the country to do what they were designed for. Just take the wife to a poorly lit street and park.

Custom vans went away because vans stopped being cool. Look at this fucking thing;
Compare this misshapen monstrosity to an econoline of days past and you can see the problem. The Econoline could be had with a V8. It could be a 4x4. It could be a diesel. It could be manual. It could be lifted. They even could come set up with a dually axle. All cool things for a vehicle to have, so custom paint jobs naturally fit together. A 4x4 diesel lifted eco could run fucking dakar in the day time and double as a small apartment at night. Just look at it;
There is no comparison. Words are not needed to articulate the vast gulf between the giant focus wannabe van and this shaggin waggin right here. The previous owner probably has like 5 kids out there he doesn’t know about. Check out other manufacturers and it’s much the same story; vans are lame now, so cool custom paint jobs and makeshift apartments inside just aren’t cool anymore.
I’m not gonna say that the demise of the cool van is why we are literally fighting nazis now. But I ain’t not sayin’ it either...

I love that last dodge van, I had one like it for a first vehicle in high school. Mine was the maxivan though with the long wheelbase. That was probably the worst vehicle that could’ve been given to a high school junior to drive. It was awesome! I would love to have one like it now. Vans are awesome. But the last dodge vans that were good looking were the mid ‘90s ones.

To be fair, that’s also a size class down from an Econoline.
You can get 4x4 (Quigley, at least in the US - in Europe, you can get it with factory 4x4 I believe), diesel, and dually on a Transit. Granted, it’s not like the Transit looks good:
But you can get it with everything but the V8.

I want to see someone do a full 70s conversion van thing on a new Transit - wood paneling, disco ball, shag carpet, water bed, porthole windows, airbrushed wizard with sword design, the works. Ford should think about doing it for SEMA.

You can get a RWD, twin turbo V6, short wheelbase Transit as well. Bolt ons + tune = 500hp. 500hp swb van.

This sounds like another reason you should’ve bought the Dodge Dreamer I found for you.
Get a lowrider shop to add a bitchin mural, shag interior, bench seat in back folds into a bed, Vespa in the bed, and would tow the Sunchaser no problem. I bet you could even throw a small hot tub in the bed too (fill it at campgrounds and empty before leaving to save weight).
