As I will be visiting Toronto for an internship at UofT, from September-December, I need a place to live. I’ve already tried a lot of searching, but apparently a lot of people don’t take my mails/messages/calls serious. I almost had a room, but that fell through, because the house owner did not respond to my mails saying I’d take the room (made me quite angry). As September is getting closer, I’m getting quite desperate, so any leads for a room that is somewhat close to UofT’s st. George campus or tips on how to approach the Toronto housing market in general would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Shared this to the GTA Oppo group, hopefully someone has something. I would try to help more, but I’m no longer in the area. Best of luck!

Have you tried this? Not sure if they set you up with an ID though.

Yes, I tried that. Got a few good leads off of that, but all fell through in the end. And sadly there is only a small amount of rooms on there that accept short rental terms. Thanks for the tip anyway!

Stay in Peter’s room! He goes way up north for school, so he won’t need it for the winter!

I’ve always had luck finding places on Craigslist, though a lot more people are posting on Kijiji.ca nowadays. I like Craigslist because you can view all the listings on a map which makes it way easier to narrow down your options.

It’s an annoying, tedious process and you simply have to keep on trying. Make sure you filter on ‘short term’ or ‘sublet’ options, otherwise people expect minimum lease terms of 1 year.

Yeah, tried my luck with Kijiji.ca already, but didn’t get much out of it. I’ve tried Craigslist now, thanks for the tip!
