My first college paper (Long time no see Oppo I am now a freshman at NC State woohoo!) is of plagiarism, specifically its morality. A lightbulb popped into my head a few minutes ago.
I think that facts should be cited, opinions shouldn’t. Opinions are only ideas; something like “words are not personal belongings but shared assets” applies here. However, facts require a credible source to support one’s argument unless one is an eyewitness of a singular event.

this is true for the most part. unless 1) youre stating a fact that is generally and widely accepted, or 2) you are stating the opinion as such, and using it either to support your argument or as contrary to your paper’s hypothesis.

Remember huge ideas begin as opinions. If one doesn’t cite opinions they could say they created the hyper loop which was just an opinion of Musk as future of travel for example. Successful business ideas begin as opinions and citing those sources is important.

The first time someone quotes your words without giving you credit, even if it is just your opinion, you will change your mind.
