Mama always told me not to look into the eyes of the Sun

But mama, that’s where the fun is

Here in the ‘Burgh, we’re expecting about 80% coverage, provided it’s not raining, but there are at least three schools that are delaying their first day or are letting kids go early due to the eclipse.

I hope they’re supplying glasses.... I told my kids not to go outside Monday. They start school the week after.

I, however, have a company picnic lunch. Its gonna be kinda dark I guess. Someone said a welding helmet will provide adequate protection. I might bring mine to work Monday.

Yeah, I could understand it if they were doing this to give kids the chance view the eclipse.

It’s actually the opposite.

But here in western Pennsylvania, some schools and day cares are concerned about the safety of students during this event.

“We will be keeping children downstairs on our basement level and that way they’ll be protected from any of the sun as the eclipse is happening,” Rachel said.

Appleseed Learning Center in Leechburg is changing its plans that day and keeping students indoors.

They are moving children into the basement where the only window points away from the sun.

The concern is students trying to watch the eclipse could look at the sun and hurt their eyes.

“You only get two eyes, why take any chances?” Rachel said.

The day care isn’t the only school taking precautions.

South Fayette School District decided to delay the start of classes by one day.

The district came to the decision Tuesday night saying, “we are keeping our students’ best interest at heart with this decision.”

Both of my kids’ schools plan to take the kids outside so they can observe the eclipse!

Sounds like the people at Appleseed are about as engaging and thrilling as a musty bathrobe - and far more ball-crushing.

Looking at the eclipse isn’t any more dangerous than looking at the sun on a normal day right?

Well since its happening around 12-3 here, the sun will likely be too high in the sky to see through a normal window anyways.... that and the forecast is calling for clouds :(

We specifically told our daycare NOT to let our 2 year old outside to watch the Eclipse, because he doesn’t like to wear anything on his face. At all.
