I know I’m going to regret this but...when you turn the key on in my car, the radio can say a message you set. There are of course letters A-Z, number 0-9, and a few odd symbols. It can say anything that is 16 characters long so...go at it Oppo.

Currently I have it set to “Rev to 8000"

On a related note to this, I work for a company that makes specialized conditioning equipment. Boring, really. The person who wrote the software for the controls board years and years ago for some reason had the controls board greet anyone who connected to it (not the controller) by terminal say “WELCOME TO STAR TREK!!!!!”. Uh, I don’t even know.

I used to have 2010's “ I’m completely operational, and all my circuits are functioning perfectly” as a startup sound in an old Powerbook 140. That computer died a death, reasons unknown. A couple of years later I was given an even older PB100 so I decided to dismantle both, get he the hard drive out of the old PB140 and connect it to the PB100, and see if it would work.

Right at that moment my sister went past, looked at the table full of eviscerated Apple components and stated - “right - I see you are playing Dr Frankenstein again”. Simultaneously the PB100 came to life and I heard Douglas Rain’s voice stating it was “completely operational, and all my circuits are functioning perfectly”. It turns out the old PB100 battery still held some charge and I had not taken it out of its slot (I know, I know)

It really startled me: I had completely forgotten about the startup sound.
