You know, the one where all the junk ends up that nobody wants anymore? The “Free Table,” a place for books, office supplies, bent hangers, coffee mugs, etc..
I usually complain about it. Why not jut throw this shit away? No one is going to use your coffee mug or a thesaurus from 1975.
Well, today I didn’t complain at all. Something new showed up.
And I fixed it.

My old job had an E-waste bench that became a kind of swap meet place. Anything useful to you? Grab it. When it got full enough a service would stop by and pick it all up.

That’s my entire department. Old computers, peripherals, soft tops for used Wranglers, clown paintings from the owner’s office, pop up tents, boxes of t-shirts, x-mas tree and decorations, flags, old displays, THE OLD DODGE SIGN FROM THE 90'S THAT WAS IN FRONT OF THE DEALERSHIP...
Its not ALL ‘free’, but a lot of it is never used and has little value.

Here’s the problem with that kind of “free” stuff in a government department. All of it has property inventory tags on it. If you want to take any unused piece of equipment lying around, you have to get it inventory switched or they will find you. If you want to take it home, nope. They would rather it be manifested and sent to rot in a warehouse somewhere next to the Ark of the Covenant rather than let it go so someone gets use out of it.

We have a whole corridor like that. The hospital does a silent auction for most of the junk before giving it away. Nothing as awesome as what you’ve come up with though.
