They’re writing anyone and everyone loud exhaust tickets. People are getting upset about it and even got a lawyer.
Yea loud cars are loud, but the city’s new ordinance of “any car noise at all from 50 feet away is a violation” is ridiculous.

Cut-outs or a silencer are wonderful things. I’ll never understand why someone would want to drive around in something that is ALWAYS louder than a completely stock car. I’ve done it and it’s terrible.

I’m on my second car without mufflers and I love it. But either way I’m sure you can hear a stock base civic from 50 feet away. The ordinance is a money grab.

I see it more as a means to easily fine a car that the officer believes to be too loud without having to rely on anything objective, like a sound measuring device.
Ideally, they will only use it to fine those with obscenely loud exhaust who feel the need to run out every gear from a stop and be as loud as possible to show off, but I could see how some LEOs might abuse the ordinance.

That sounds like it would be awful from inside the cabin.
I’m not saying the ordinance isn’t silly, because it is. But I also don’t entirely understand why people feel the need to have a crazy loud exhaust.
My C5Z is definitely audible from over 50 feet away without revving it or shifting late. I find it kinda loud on the highway. Wish it was actually quieter at cruising speed.

It’s not that bad. With the windows up it drones a bit but it makes wonderful noises you can hear with the windows down.

I had cutouts on my last build and they were fantastic. Car was just barely louder than stock most of the time (LT’s with the stock catback), but with the flip of one switch, it screamed. Saw a tiny bump in the top end too.

Thats the problem, they just use the “ordinance” when they want. Bike night every week, no problem. In a loud car last month no problem. Dream cruise week, ticket.
