That’s the normal non-M E39 bumper in the front. There are only two bumper types for the E39: regular and M5.

That’s most likely a 525i with the 2.5L engine. Those wheels almost always came with the later model year 525i’s. Based on the facelift headlights, clear side markers, wheels, and painted side trims, it’s a 2001-2003 model, likely to be either a 2002-2003, since the 2001 models got different wheels. It has the cold weather package as indicated by the headlight washer nozzles. Based on the exterior color, the interior is likely to either be gray or black. It also does not have the sport package, as indicated by the chrome window trims (sport package would have black trims).

That’s what I was thinking. Plus it’s not like the US and Euro versions were different enough where it’d be worth the hassle to import one.

Well, maybe if you wanted a version that wasn’t available in the US? Like a diesel. But if I’m not mistaken the US banned private imports of <25 year old cars somewhere in the 1980s (save for rare exceptions).

That is correct. Good luck registering a diesel E39 in the US.
