I’ve not made an appearance here for.. well.. a long time, but the recent tweets made by the bloody fucking POTUS.. well.. He can’t be fucking serious can he? “Defending” Neo-Nazis, defending Breitbart? Claiming that Bannon is A OK, and that the people demonstrating against the Neo-nazis are as bad themselves? Not trying to spark a huge arguement. Just trying to figure out if the world wide coverage is somewhat accurate or somewhat skewed.

No it’s completely accurate, Trump is his own worst enemy in that regard; normally politicians’ greatest concern is having their words taken out of context (look at how Fox News loved to twist Hillary and Obama’s words). As you may have noticed, Trump instead rambles and blusters like your senile uncle at Thanksgiving any time he goes off-script, exposing himself for what he actually is: an ignorant, narcisstic, and most likely mentally-ill racist who stands for nothing but his own personal gain, so all the networks really have to do is play the tape or quote the direct transcript. His self-sabotage is almost fascinating in a really morbid, disturbing way, like everything he says and does is literally the worst possible thing he could say or do at the time.
That’s why it’s almost funny to see Trump complain about ‘fake news’, there’s almost literally no possible way for CNN or WaPo or whoever to make him look worse than he already makes himself look.

That’s is the full transcript, the way I understand it he is not defending Neo-Nazis, he intact denounces them several times. He does not say that the counterprotesters were as bad as the protesters, he says that both sides had people who were extreme and people on both side who were looking for a fight. It’s actually quite an interesting read.

This’ll make you feel better: the two highest-ranking generals in his Cabinet have an agreement that one of them will be in the country at all times because they don’t trust Trump to not do anything insane. The President of the United States is literally being babysat like a child.
Not to fearmonger but as Commander in Chief of the United States armed forces the President has sole authority on a nuclear strike (barring a military coup), so if there were some kind of nuclear exchange with North Korea I genuinely wouldn’t put it past Trump to have been the one who launched first based on his previous behavior (again, almost funny to think North Korea is now the more sane of the two). Most of us in the States are terrified to have such an unhinged lunatic in charge too, there’s just nothing we can do about it right now.

I’ve read it if I’m honest. My main concern still stands though, he does seem think that there is some Alt-Left group attacking what he calls the alt-right (and the alt-right IS the KKK, the Aryan Nation, Breitbart and such), and it’s pretty much confirmed by this “ TRUMP: Those people – all of those people, excuse me – I’ve condemned neo-Nazis. For the record, there is no ‘alt-left’, at least as a direct counterpart as the ‘alt-right’. I’m ashamed that he’s our President, but not ashamed to be an American. We’re getting a good lesson here about how our government works, how a charlatan can make his way into the White House, how important free press is, and by the end of his time in office (which hopefully will be much less than 4 years), we’ll end up with a stronger legislative branch and a weaker executive branch going forward.
Definitely a black mark on our history, but I feel like it’s possible that we’ll be stronger for it on the other side.

Luckily, pretty much everyone else on the Hill and in the White House are coming out against the alt-right group specifically. Trump, Bannon, and Pence are the important ones in favor of the alt-right (though I’d say Pence would be less-so. He’s more interested in creating a Christian theocracy)

I’m counting on him passing an Executive Order so egregious it gets him impeached under the Oath of Office. If prefer against Mike Pence as POTUS, but he would be a lot more rational and presidential.
My practical guess is that he’s going to hold on until mid-terms, where I would love to see a Democrat supermajority (though that won’t happen). Trump would probably have an aneurysm if he can’t do anything.

Just read up on them, it’s interesting to see the divergent routes both sides of the skinhead movement have taken in recent times. My view on that kind of thing is that violence can be justified if it’s a means to defend yourself against more violence, not a means to an end meant to intimidate and injure and demoralize like it seems to be for the far right. Of course, another one of my views is that everyone should fucking chill out and respect and love each other too regardless of skin color or sexual orientation or political affiliation, but that doesn’t seem to be too popular nowadays...

That would make me more afraid of Pence. Trump is an irrational narcissistic man child. Pence is much more restrained and much more an actual adult (which isn’t an accomplishment). That’s more than a respectable view and one I agree with, I guess I meant that ‘violence’ like that only as a way to deescalate a situation is all I’m comfortable endorsing; I’m still a huge hippie at heart so I’d obviously prefer it to never come to that to begin with, I’d much rather talk first like, y’know, reasonable adults tend to do. Plus I’m 5'8 and 123lb so it’s not like I’d stand much of a chance in a fight regardless.

I’ll back this up as an Indiana resident, Pence is the more scary of the two. Despite the amount of discord his actions have wrought in modern US politics, the Trump Administration is too incompetent and disorganized to actually pass any bills or make any major political decisions that would irreparably harm the country from a systemic standpoint. Someone like Pence, who has similarly insane views but coupled with decades of political experience, could actually make those regressive, bigoted views of his a reality.

Was more thinking about not giving the president so much power that he could run roughshod over the Congress and the courts.
I’m not convinced that he wasn’t involved with colluding with a foreign government during the election, and his flouting of the Emoluments Clause and not disclosing business dealings that could be a huge conflict of interest are serious issues. Time will tell - Mr. Mueller seems to be a very busy man.
