I have a soft spot for softroaders on AT tires. They are super compromised and only so/so in the rough but they look so much better.

They do look good!

Bee Tee Dub, I’ve settled on a 96-99 Montero SR/Winter package. Now, to save the moneys...

nice! hopefully you can find a clean one. I find that settling on a car is only a small part of the battle, especially if you are specific.

But some of those are M/T tires.

I’d be willing to bet that out of all of the ones you posted, the Subaru is the only one that goes off road.

Someone in town has a lifted Renegade on the stock tires. It looks quite awkward.

Yeah, no kidding! Of course, I found a 98 SR, clean, $1300 in NV, but I’m not ready to buy yet. I have hope, though. I still need to build up to it. Also, maybe get through school first...

HA, good luck finding a good one. Ive wanted a 2.5 gen montero for my last 4 vehicle purchases spread 5 years apart and never found one I liked within 6 hours of me.

Lifted old crv guys go hard off road, seriously. Not that its good at it, but they probably just dont care about beating on it.

I also haven’t found one within 6 hours. It’s a tough cookie to grab, but I have faith! Also, I like road trips...

It will be worth it. Occasionally a 99 winter package or 2000 montero endeavor or whatever comes up in perfect condition for like $3k and I get super pissed because im never in the market at the time. I almost settled on a 3rd gen montero at one point but ended up with a 3rd gen 4runner.

That pilot looks great to me. Its probably just enough to get you to any trail head, and then bust out whatever it’s carrying in the back.

My brother-in-law put General Grabber AT2 on their 2wd Escape based on my recommendation. Not only does it look nice, but its surprisingly capable in snow. Previously they were never able to get up the hill to my FILs cabin in the winter, but they’re all good now.

I wouldn’t call it so much of a softroader, but I’d like to build one of these to take to the Jeep Easter Safari.

super nice Forester build there and the Honda looks nice, but those are kinda marginally powered as it is, even worse with the big tires...
