I went to a Toyota dealer for a Rav4 that was getting leather. That dealer had a white ‘18 Camry XSE on the showroom floor. It had the red interior. Honestly, I didn’t hate it. It looks like it’s pointed directly at a segment of the market that says “I like the Maxima, but it’s not quite ostentatious enough.”

Whoa. That is VERY red. Even when Lexus put red interior in the GS350 they hedged their bets, made it a burgundy and called it Cabernet. But that shit is RED. I like where Toyota’s head is these days, getting back to their 1980s coolness I hope.

I wonder if they’re just seeing how ridiculous they can make it, and have the same people buy it who’ve been buying a Camry since 1987.

I mean it mostly worked with the Lexus RX, much to my surprise. The RX was easily the most popular luxury crossover thing in my area, and since they turned it into predator I don’t see as many, but still quite a few.

Apparently the chassis is much improved so maybe its a little less ridiculous that it looks like that. The new accord got super ugly too so its not like it has much competition. The last gen accord was very good looking (even though it seemed unchanged for like 10 years) and the last gen camry was probably the best its looked since it was just a generic sedan in the 90s.

Honestly, I thought the 97-01 Camry was about the best-looking ordinary-sedan design of the 90s. The rear had an almost-Alfa 164 look to it, and the rest of the car just seemed like clean design:

Yeah I like that design a lot. I dislike all the generations after that until the last gen which is good enough. Sporty but not absurd.

I would like to have brown or burgundy in my next car, but that is too red for me.

I can’t blame you, it’s extremely red.

I own an Accord and from a design perspective alone, I’d take the 2018 Camry over the 2018 Accord. There I said it.

For me this was the pinnacle of Accord design:

Yup the late nineties ones were dull but could look sharp optioned right. Love the narrow taillights too.

I just bought a 98 Le v6 auto with 160k in white for my mom on a whim a few weeks ago cause it was 400$ and runs great with cold a.c.

the catch is it was rear ended lightly. It needed a new trunk and bumper and pullout of a few inches below the trunk to make the trunk latch. But I’ve got the new body parts from picknpull installed already. I got lucky and found a matching white XLE trunklid which has a spoiler. Really jazzed up the car. Just need to contact a body guy a friend referred me too for the rest and ill have a nice cruiser to replace moms tired regal.
