Hot take: non-chrome bumper C3s are appealing to me because affordibilty is goddamn sexy to me. Give me an ‘80 or a ‘79 any day with it’s actual glovebox! (But no Crossfire ‘81s...)

A 78 indycar fender flare and spolider is the sexiest plastic and makes a very good argument for itself especially when it doesn’t have the indycar paint scheme because then it is 10k cheaper

i absolutely agree. i even dont mind the later years when they went to the plastic bumpers.
the best looking corvettes. for whatever reason i think i saw 4 of them out in the wild this past weekend.
my favorite one though was at night in my neighborhood... it was red or orange, couldn’t tell as it was night and lit by streetlights. it may have been a T-top? did these even come with T-tops?
i dont know if it was T-tops or a convertible because i couldn’t stop staring at the two latin guys in there replete with unbuttoned shirts, chest hair and gold chains on display.
it was a terrific.

Yes! That’s my favorite generation of Corvette for sure. Eventually once I get a bit better at bodywork and fabrication I’ll buy a C3 to restore. The later models are pretty slow in stock form, but at their core they all have the 350 small block so you can do pretty much anything with them. It’s not too hard to get 350hp out of them with some better-flowing heads, a hotter cam, a better intake, and some dyno time. They’re a secret gem that the collectors have largely overlooked.

Plus with how analog these cars are, it’s pretty simple to swap in a more potent motor. My dream is a 79-82 C3 (I like the rear bubble window) with a 454 Chevy big block stroked to 496, and a big Weiand 6-71 blower sticking out of the hood with a big scoop.

It’s the holy grail of vettes. My cousin had a Yellow split window just like this
He sold it about 10 years ago when he bought his current house.
He now has British fever i guess since he’s now got an original mini and a mgb gt just like this one
I don’t remember the color of the mini, but its not yellow
