(aka CB900F, and for you European Jalops, the Honda Hornet)

Just curious to get other owner’s opinions on the bike. I’ve had the mine for almost a year and love it. I’ve heard some owners describe it as ‘scary fast’ and other compliments, but am curious of negatives traits.

And, also curious for you owners of the smaller, plucky sibling, the Honda 599 (aka CB600F).

I know one popular upgrade is to swap the front end with a CBR600 F4i and + do a Ohlins rear. The factory bits are probably not going to win any track days. One of the definitive sites for this bike is still www.wristtwisters.com . Many dedicated fans there along with a ton of info on everything from servicing to modifying this jack-of-all trades machine. The 919 is a great all-rounder that feels more more nimble than its curb weight would have you believe (read: close to a 600 cc machine feel). Does not have the stratospheric power of today’s 1-liter bikes nor any electronic do-dads—but it will not let you down and just gets the job done year after year.

Thanks! I’m digging it.

What’s the bike in your avatar? I can’t tell but I like that fairing...

Nice. You seem familiar with it... have you owned/ridden before?

Yeah, WristTwisters got me warmed up before I even bought the bike. I have an early model - a 2002. They upgraded the suspension a few years later (2004 or 2006 I believe). But so far my skill hasn’t reached the bike’s limits, though I am curious of what an upgraded suspension would feel like.

When I bought the bike it came with Yoshimira slip-ons and a Power Commander. When I hooked up the PC to a laptop the previous owner had the settings really weird, but I changed it to a preset for my exhaust setup and I’m happy. Only thing that bugs me is that it runs a little rich sometimes, and with an underseat exhaust, I often smell like I’ve been making love to a lawnmower.

What do you ride?
