Twins! As I’m fond of saying, I was hoping for two kids and instead I got two more. Right now, my 14-year-old is the biggest headache. He can’t decide if he wants to be 17 or 11, and at home he usually defaults to the latter. And dealing with all this social media BS is a real headache.

i’m extra long weekend for me, I only go back to work on the 5th.
My plans are to build and Tile my shower, then tile the floors, install toilet and plumbing. So basically build a whole bathroom, since the only thing done so far in my second bathroom is the sink is hung on the wall.

After three weeks of solid rain (and intermittent lawnmower issues), I’m finally gonna have some time to cut the grass. The yard looks like a jungle (and the weather makes it feel like one too).
Other than that, maybe hit up Cars and Coffee in the morning and put more work in on the Vic. Had to replace the battery and the battery terminals on Wednesday, and now it’s having cooling issues. The needle gets up to that top quarter of the gauge, but the coolant level is fine. So the easy fix is out.
Oh, and tonight the wife and I are doing a double date thing with my buddy and his new girlfriend, so that should be fun. I mean, any time where we get a break from the kiddos is nice. I love ‘em to death, but sometimes mommy and daddy need to be able to have an actual conversation with other adults.

Taking my oldest to the Historics at Laguna Seca tomorrow morning! She absolutely loved it last year, and starts kindergarten on Monday so it’s kind of a last father/daughter summer road trip before she grows up a little more.

Sounds good. We’ve got two soccer games tomorrow (the first at 8:00 am). Not sure about Sunday. Gonna do something with mom, since we hardly ever see her (she’s the breadwinner with the real job). As a stay home dad, I’m actually looking forward to the start of school! My twins are starting MS, and my older boy is starting HS. Big transitional period for all of us.

We just started 6th grade Wednesday, but since we’re in catholic school, it’s not that big a change. Same building, etc.
Ours is a competitive swimmer, but for some reason, her club team goes on 3 week hiatus at the end of August. So, I have to keep her occupied on the weekends so Mom can have her quiet time. Weekends are my speciality.
I was going to be her school’s swim coach, but then the Dallas Parochial League decided to cut swimming from its program this year, which I think is a travesty, so that’s out.

Our 6th graders are experiencing the big MS building, the schedule, changing rooms, riding the bus, all for the first time. They seem so little for it. But we had back to school night last night, and all the 6th graders seem small. It’s a tough age. When I was a kid, 6th grade was part of elementary school, and JHS was grades 7 and 8. I think 6th graders are too old for elementary, but too young for MS. They do keep the 6th graders segregated from the 7th and 8th graders, though.

Districts seem to vary a lot on what to do with 6th grade. For me, it was off the big building to learn about lockers and periods (7 of them!) and all that.
At my daughter’s school, the 7th and 8th graders just have a slightly different uniform. So, I guess that their equivalent of JH?
