Now, let me preface this with a obvious statement first and foremost, the so called neo-natzi’s are grade A fecal material. Not a single one is worth the air they breathe, the sooner they are dealt with the better.
Now what is getting me annoyed lately is articles like this

And most other articles on The Root.
I agree racism is a HUGE problem in the world, as exemplified by the events this weekend, but articles like this only sow the seeds for more division and separation between racial communities.

Tries to make the claim these these alt-right ass hats are the norm. The author makes the claim that all white people are like this. So what, just because your not white, you are allowed to generalize all white people as hitler loving, white supremacist f*ck tards??? Yeah, funny how that racism never goes away huh....
The only way this situation is ever going to improve is to open up communication channels between these communities, and cut the group think positive feedback loop that only separates them further. Writing articles generalizing white people does not do a damn thing to help the situation.
Start helping the situation by educating those on both sides of the racial line. Then begin facilitating discussions on how ridiculous racism is to start with. Only then will we ever move away from this ridiculous racial war.

I agree, at least to a certain extent, especially with communication. Racism is not a joke, it is real, and escalating the situation is another step towards more violence, more killed, and more ignorance.
I don’t think that the author of the second post was trying to call all white people as Nazis, but I still think there’s a bit (or maybe a lot?) of “guilt by association” in the way it was written. I think the purpose of the article is mainly that racism, white supremacy, nazism etc is a real and powerful threat that has a foothold in the government whether we like it or not. Defusing this situation is going to be tricky, seems like everything is escalating by the day on an international level.

I will tell you this... I am a white guy, and it never ceases to amaze me how many other white guys in my lifetime have said painfully overt racist shit to me when the “others” aren’t around. Is it everybody? No. But it’s a much larger number than I’d ever expected. These guys of course also like to say horrifyingly homophobic shit as well, because their minds simply can’t conceive that I would possibly be gay because I’m not a caricature. Again, it may not be all white guys, but it’s a lot more than we seem to be comfortable admitting.

I work “with” a bunch of white guys that fully support the views of both those sites, so they’re out there for sure. But I also work with a whole bunch of white guys who aren’t anything like that, so both sides exist. Sadly.

They’re especially good at alienating the ones trying to get more involved. I was in a social justice and environmentalism focused course a few years ago, and left with the impression that as a cisgendered straight white man, the best thing I could do to help was to piss off and not participate. I still consider myself left wing, but I no longer have any desire to get very involved.

I don’t like The Root either but I wouldn’t call it a Breitbart . Doing so actually compliments Breitbart . For all of the questionable articles that sometimes get posted to The Root , at least they don’t deliberately fabricate news to feed a violent narrative.
I’d rather have rants about racism and Bernie Sanders than basically outright brainwashing your readers to believe that gay people are raping the kids of Conservatives.

Keep that threshold in mind while reading. You might change your mind. They are feeding a violent narrative, but so far the target is an easy one to vilify. But the creep from white supremacist to racist to the indifferent has made huge gains in their verbal rhetoric.
The tone is overwhelmingly “if you’re not with us (the way we want you to be) your against us.”
