Three people were shot and killed at a dragstrip in Wisconsin Sunday, the Kenosha County sheriff told Fox 6 News.
Two people died at the scene, and a third died en route to the hospital.
It happened around 7:00 p.m. at the Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove. All three of the victims are from Illinois, Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth said.
In a news release issued around 9:00 p.m., sheriff’s officials called the situation “fluid.”
The type of weapon used in this incident is unknown, as is what might have precipitated this action.
It was estimated that over 5,000 people were at “Larry’s Fun Fest” at the time, an event that has, in the past, attracted persons from Milwaukee, Chicago and other surrounding areas.
“This is not indicative of this crowd. This is isolated and this is somebody who had a grudge with somebody and they came here and they really ruined a family event for people,” Brian Mitchell, a Great Lakes Dragaway volunteer, said.

Last 3 times I’ve been to the drag strip have ended with me and my wife leaving early because by around 11pm, the majority of the crowd is shit faced and talking shit to everyone else. Once we hear, “Bitch I have a gun in my truck, what up!” that’s when it’s time to go.

I can see it being some sort of a grudge-revenge act or simply a hit attempt. Heck, maybe even a robbery if money was involved.

I happened to be driving from Burlington to the Chicago suburbs yesterday morning and saw a bunch of nice muscle cars out and about.

You know the most fucked up thing? By US standards, it won’t statistically qualify as a “mass shooting” because less than 4 people were hit. Had he shot someone else in the foot, it would have been considered a “mass shooting”.

We have plenty of gun laws, however we don’t enforce them. Most murders and shootings are committed with illegal weapons, thus should carry a weapons charge along with the crime. The penalty for these charges is supposed to run consecutively with the initial crimes charges. This never happens though, as usually in some form of a plea, they get the weapons charges thrown out.

Kenosha is my home away from home. I’ve never been to the Dragaway before but I’m a regular at Club Icon and my face is known at various other bars across the city. I hope something like this never occurs at any of those places. My heart would rip apart.
