Rare does not necessarily translate into value (Yugo, first Hyundai Excel, some old Japanese cars) ... if it’s “rare” other people have to be willing to take it off your hands for the same price.

Yeah, fair point. I wouldn’t be surprised if he got close to his ask though. Almost any older RWD Toyota seems to be getting overpriced

Back in the day I shopped Toyotas once. Looked at Starlets and Corolla liftbacks in Virginia Beach but couldn’t come to an agreement and I had cash for up to $8k. Ended up getting pissed and buying a 1979 mk1 Ford Fiesta that I drove for 120k miles. Then years later I worked at a Toyota dealership, by then I didn’t like Starlets or Tercels but still had a warm spot for a Corolla liftback. Its the only one I’d pay the kind of money the guy is asking for that Starlet.

I fucking love the Toyota Starlet. Other than the awesome Renault T5 (and I guess the M coupe), am I missing out on other awesome super duper badass RWD hatchbacks?
