I haven’t felt so down since before I went to California in June. I’ve no idea where I belong. So here I am, sitting on Woodward. At least I have my car to provide inanimate support.

I know how that goes. I’ve been feeling like shit for months now. Stress, anxiety, mild depression all combine to create an awesome feeling all the time. I know that probably dosent help much but it’s worth a shot just in case.

drove up that road once a few years ago. Michigan is pretty awesome. Even in Detroit. well, maybe Especially there. so many interesting things to see n do. and eat. holey moley. good food almost every where!
saw the old Michigan Train station. kinda left me stuck in time for a bit - so cool and so empty and useless. hope it comes back as something!

I’m over in Sterling Heights, but work down in the new center building downtown. Our men’s group will be heading over to Woodward tomorrow night to hang out, then I’ll make a few laps with one of my sons on Saturday morning before it gets too busy. I’d like to make it up to drag nights on Friday, but not sure if that will work out.

To the folks out of the area, it’s a pretty cool gathering for the dream cruise. Something special for sure. I really grew to appreciate it a few years back. It’s so cool to see the cars actually moving as well. It’s like a real live Henry ford museum for the day.

Long time no see, K. Have you had any luck finding local car meets in Michigan? Those are always nice distractions. I have a buddy who goes to U Mich (with a manual Subaru Legacy GT Wagon) who has said the car scenes pretty solid up there.

Ford has a 5 year corrosion warranty. My ST didn’t have any bubbling issues when I traded it in and that was after two years.

I mean things just appear. Last spring/summer I was looking for a way out of Detroit- needed a change. I looked at Socal- I considered transferring to the LA studio, but also met with a company and applied for some other jobs, but nothing clicked. My mom was looking at moving to AZ (and separating from my dad) when she stumbled upon a masters program for me at NAU. We took a trip out there in the fall and I really dug it.
Then I applied, and we drove out (from MN) over winter break. Aside from having an amazing road trip on the way, everything just worked. Within one business week, I was accepted to grad school, we found a rental house with a two car garage in a depressed market, she found money for the down payment, we decided to move in with each other, she found a place for her horses, and we cannonballed to Detroit to start getting me packed. On the first day back at work, I gave a week’s notice, left the next Monday (Tuesday?) in a Penske truck towing my F-100, and I drove solo 1900 miles to move into the new house within a month of being accepted. I started class eleven days later. And her life turned around just as quickly.
And that’s not even to mention that I was being forced out of MI anyway. My girlfriend and I broke up, a good friend inexplicably stopped talking to me, I tied up loose ends and got the distinct feeling that I was just being led along a different path in general.
When it’s right, it’s right. My advice is that you just have to ask God/the universe/your intuition what is best, be receptive to what it’s telling you, and go for it. If you would have told me last August that I’d be living in Flagstaff right now, I would have laughed at you. But here I am and I’ve never been happier with the place I live. If you have any questions about the universe stuff let me know, but people sometimes get weirded out by that so I’ll let you ask if you care.
