What’s that Safari picture about? I never saw one like that. I own a ‘97 Safari that I do lots of maintenance on, mostly preventive, and it is a very dependable, very utile vehicle.

It is, and yes a lot of them did have the 2.8. I think the GTs all had the 4.3 though.

The 4.3 is not without its problems and is not the most exciting engine on the road, but it’s a robust and dependable power plant.

It definitely is. My uncle had an ‘85 G20 with a 4.3, that he beat the crap out of and didn’t maintain at all. Even when that thing was beaten within an inch of its life and burned 3 quarts of oil a week, it would not die.
