As I try to deliberate on which two to pick: the Forester or the WRX (Limited CVT.) Both have good points but it’s tricky to pick between the two, and mind - this has to be for the family, and it will be seeing Seattle - aka, lol parking size.
Why do I do this to myself?
P.S. For the curious, the dish is called Bun Thit Nuong, or basically rice vermicelli noodles and charbroiled pork. The add on are spring rolls, from what they call it. (It’s egg rolls.)

Yea, I think I might go get this tomorrow now lol.
It is embarrassing, but the parking lot size also dictated my choice. Salesman was kind of confused why I would option out the smaller car instead of getting the slightly larger model in base trim with the same options. I told him the smaller car is 9 inches shorter and is the difference between being able to fit in a parking spot and being able to make the turns in the lot without putting the car in reverse.

We have all three sizes: an Explorer, an Outback, and a WRX. The first two are much better for long trips, mostly because of the extra room for luggage and the extra sound insulation. The noise in the WRX wears on you after a while. The rear seat is comfy on all three, but the Outback has the most spaces for stretching your legs. If we have to carry more than five, the Explorer is our only choice.
The Explorer is big and you feel every inch when navigating narrow spaces. However, with a little care, I can squeeze it between the two concrete columns flanking my favorite space in the garage at work.
The Outback is the happy compromise. It’s smaller than the Explorer, yet feels big enough to be really comfortable on long trips. It’s not as quiet as the Explorer, but it’s much quieter than the WRX. The interior is on par with the Ford. It doesn’t feel zippy or fast like the WRX, but the flat six has plenty of power.
If I had to pick only one for my family, it would be the Outback.
Oh, and our favorite meal right now is a good bowl of Pho!

The CVT is atrocious. The Forester has better NVH, relative to a subaru. What about an Outback, since you’re comparing the compact WRX to the largest-Subaru-on-sale Forester?
Alternate choices: Volvo XC60 and Mazda CX-5 AWD.

Technically, both the WRX and Forester would be close to the size target, and the only thing letting the Legacy/Outback down would be engine choices.
Volvo? Hell no.

Both of those are on my list for my next car. Are you looking at the XT Forrester? I’m personally leaning towards the WRX but I’m a little unhappy that it gets the same mileage as my 10 year old Tucson lol
