H1B wages are low when the H1B visa is sponsored by an indentured servant Indian company.
These companies get folks from India (and other places), and the deal is basically, “we’ll sponsor your H1B, now you’re our consultant, we’ll pay you $40k and you have to go wherever in the US we’re able to find a subcontracting assignment for you, and you’ll share an apartment with 4 other people doing the same thing.”
Then the indentured servant Indian company spams the hell out of every staffing company they can find around the country talking about “here’s our hotlist of available consultants for your direct client requirements!” The staffing companies, when they have a client who wants a certain kind of skillset but is paying a shitty bill rate that there’s no way for the staffing company to find an American with that skillset for that rate, submits resumes of these H1B consultants, places them as contractors, and then the person picks up and moves to that city for the duration of the contract assignment. When that contract is up, the cycle repeats.
When a regular company wants to hire someone directly as their own employee, and that person needs H1B sponsorship, generally the pay is the same as if that person were a US citizen.

I’ve spent years living and working in Philadelphia and I’ve never once met a Flyers fan.
Well, at least, not in Philadelphia. I did once go out on a date with a woman who seemed perfectly stereotypically Jewish in every way, but was super into ice hockey and the Flyers. After about 20 minutes of trying to engage in conversation about it, I figured out there would not be a second date.

There’s a guy near my work (I live in a blue county, work in the deep red county next door) who loves flying combinations of the Cubs flag or the Blackhawks flag paired with either a Don’t Tread On Me flag, a MAGA flag, a Confederate flag, or a NRA flag.
There are probably 100x more Confederate flags flown in that county than there are McDonald’s and gun stores. I’m surprised they don’t have white pride marches.

Oh i like their stuff. Their workpants are fantastic. Their store is really out of place and interesting who I’ve seen go into shop. When you see somene hop out of a new Range Rover or Escalade it becomes a bit “who do you think you’re fooling?”
