There is a lot of strange things going on with this crop of cars coming out this year. It’s like we had some huge performance jump between 2015 and 2017 and I think it’s mostly to do with traction management systems and power application. It’s as if the entire industry is switching to wheel horsepower ratings since most cars are hitting dynos with only a 10% difference (or less) in wheel horsepower compared to the crank ratings.
If you think this is crazy then I’ll tell you now that the larger, 330-ish horspower 2018 BMW 540i is as quick or quicker than this smaller, 365 hp Kia Stinger GT.

The drivers switch cars for the third race. I just think it’s the relatively short distance of the run and how much software has developed over the last two years, especially in regards to traction and power management.

You can hear that wheel spin from the camaro on rounds two and three, and it looks damp outside as well. If it’s an 1/8th mile instead of a 1/4, that + AWD might be enough to give the stinger the advantage for a short enough time.

Oh I guarantee you’ll never be able to replicate these findings. The Stinger does have a 4.7 second 0-60 mph but that SS would still need over half a second of traction issues to give the Kia any chance. Maybe the Chevy is running some super cheap tires in Korea.
