The trouble with the Charade is that the wheel pattern is 4x110, so it will be very hard to find Ronal Teddy Bears for.

I once boxed in a border agent in his booth in a ‘91 Charade. Hungarian-Croatian border. He wasn’t happy. The Daihatsu had the 1.3L i4 though, and I remember it to be unexpectedly peppy.

indeed, the aussie delivered charade I am familiar with had the same i4, not the peasant i3.
but I mean, at least I could do engine changes without a hoist if I buy this i3 version.

They were available here in Europe with the i3, the i4, an i3 turbo in the gtti and there was a diesel as well, probably a turbo diesel.
If you want to engine swap it, get a bike engine!
