I ordered a bunch of crap for my brakes with my usual amount of online price and coupon sleuthing, which is significant thanks to my oh-so-useful OCD. Below is a list of parts. See if you can guess how much I just spent, including shipping, with my wife’s permission!

My mechanic is supplying whatever other little incidentals may or may not be needed, and yes I know I’m a wimp taking my car to a mechanic for a brake job but I don’t want to mess with replacing the hoses. The rear ones are... difficult.

Beanitos White Bean Mac N’ Cheese Crunch are the size and shape of poofy Cheetos but approach the density and crunch of crunchy Cheetos, while tasting more like actual cheese. They are legitimately good.

That’s a bit surprising. My Prelude’s brake stuff over the last few years was four figures, and I bought some of the equivalent parts from the same brands you did. Granted, King Motorsports (the US arm of Mugen) isn’t the cheapest place around.

I just priced out StopTech Sport pads, Wagner e-coated rotors, StopTech stainless lines, and the same 2 bottles of brake fluid, for a 1999 Prelude. Total is $332.31 shipped.

Doing some performance driving in the future - why the upgrades? Rotors, pads and the like are some of the easiest pieces of maintenance once you get over the initial fear.
CSL M3 rotors, pads and fluid for the 07 M coupe set me back about $900

Breaking rotors loose from hubs is annoying. Rear lines are extra annoying. The car’s going to the shop anyway to look at clutch hydraulics and sort out a driveline vibration. I’m willing to pay for the labor for them to install parts I buy myself.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a rotor stuck to the hub on one of my BMWs. Aside from the time the locator bolt seized on my e36 and I hulk smashed the rotor off the car. I also switched to stainless steel locator bolts for the e46, best $10 I’ve ever spent .
Granted now that I do track days I am swapping the pads and rotors twice every few months, so my rotors don’t get time to seize anymore.

Eh, couple of whacks with a 4lb and the rotors normally pop off but yeah if you don’t have the time to do it I can see that.
