Here’s how I see it.

Really? I don’t think the ZL1 could be confused for a Lexus.

I knew someone should say that. To me it seems well done on the lexus’s but on this camaro it just looks like someone kept making the grille larger and larger until they got enough air. Like it wasn’t supposed to be that way but it ended up the way. It just looks stupid being so close to the upper grille all while not following any other lines or being remotely close the the side vents height. On Lexus’s(or Audi’s) it looks well designed on the camaro it looks like a kid saw a hotwheels movie and thought bigger was better

It has 11 heat exchangers, kind of needs a big grille.

Agree that the lower grill is too tall. I think the eyes are too squinty. I preferred the grill of the previous gen better.

At the end of the day, to each their own. People think the new LC500 looks amazeballs but having seen it in person, that grill and incredibly droopy headlights does not work with the rest of the car. Plus for me, it’s always function over form. Rather have a slightly bigger grill that cools that beast of a motor than drop thousands more on something that will linger in high temps with the possibility of a reduced power mode. Nature of the beast, I suppose.

They didn’t need to make one huge grille though, they couldve done a better job at making things less ridiculous

I never even notice the lower grille. To me, everything seems to draw focus to the upper grille. I like it.

They kind of did, though. They didn’t want a 5-minute-wonder around the track. I like the function over form effort GM puts into these cars to make sure you’re not overheating your diff, brakes, motor, transmission, etc.

They could have cut squares out of the,”bumper” and left the lower grille low. They could have raised the side grilles and or enlarged the upper grille if the were going for function over form. This audi is an example( maximum airflow wise) of what they could have done, and it somehow retains the original look.

But I understand it’s more complicated than just cutting squares out of the bumper, no one wants to but a car that has a hacked up front end. I support function over form in most things but this front end does not represent function over form to me, there are sections of that grille blocked off and like I’m explaining they could’ve gotten the airflow they needed through other means without making a huge lower grille. Then again I’m no engineer maybe it had to do with safety or something else

I’m fine with it, except it could maybe do with fewer creases and angles.

I think they did well as far as flow with the rest of the car goes. The part of the grill that is blocked is most likely the crash bar. Would be interesting to see how it looked photoshopped, but then it might look too much like an SS.

“Less ridiculous”

It’s a 650 horsepower supercharged V8 Camaro. It is inherently ridiculous and looks like it to match.
