At the time that clip came on TV, I didn’t care too much. Now that I appreciate a clean NA mx-5, it hurts.

Years ago they destroyed 2 NAs on Mythbusters. I was annoyed until I saw that they were both automatics and then I didn’t care as much.
Same thing when they destroyed a BMW E34 5-series. I rationalized it as being one of those with the 3.0l V8 that was experiencing compression problems due to the Alusil or Nikasil (I can’t keep these two straight) cylinder coating. Or an early 525i with the M20 and an autobox.
