The final nail in the coffin. Chevrolet will race the Camaro ZL1 in the Cup series next year.

I am surpised they didn’t go with the Impala or Malibu to stick with the 4-doors, but I must admit this looks quite good. Also the size comparison of the real car vs the race car is quite close.

Now which has more functional grille space...

4-door Camaro in the making?? (Probably not, but I would like to see something like that to replace the SS)

I know the NASCAR isn’t really a Camaro because it has windows you can actually see out of.

Chevrolet will race the Camaro ZL1 change the molding for the fiberglass shell of their race car slightly for the Cup series next year.

and the grille on the real one is just a large sheet of plastic instead of a sticker.

Saw a triple black auto SS near Times Square on Saturday ... apparently someone bought one.

“Camaro ZL1" should really be in quotes.

I don’t see why they didn’t do this long time a go. Was the camaro dead when they went with the SS?

I was secretly hoping for it to be a Regal GS but this is the logical choice

Actually super excited about this. The SS was a great NASCAR but the Xfinity style pony cars would make much more sense. The Fusion/Camry dynamic doesn’t do it for me at all. Would much rather see mustang, camaro, and Supra?(but actually a challenger).

The SS was brought to NASCAR when the Gen6 era came about and NASCAR wanted the cars to look like the on street counterparts. Judging by the fact NASCAR is about the only advertising Chevrolet did with the SS, that was the only reason it was brought over. (cannot confirm that though).

I wouldn’t have minded, but Buick hasn’t been in NASCAR since 1991. Pontiac was axed in 2004 because GM had 2 cars in the field versus everyone elses’ 1. I would like for them to bring in more manufactures though. It added some nice variety

I think it was because the past 3 generations of cars have been sedan based bodies (In know the Monte Carlo, etc. are coupes, but they are sedan-ish in size).

I liked the idea that they had the pony cars in Xfinity, but I agree it makes a bit more sense to have the pony cars in Cup and put the smaller cars in Xfinity. Say Cup runs Camaro ZL1, Shelby Mustang, & Lexus LC and Xfinity runs the Camaro 2.0, Mustang EcoBoost, and FR-S.
