Well the parts are not covered under the drive-train warranty, and they are recommending replacing the clutch and flywheel while the transmission is out. So total I’m out 1600$ all said and done, at least I have a loaner until the repairs are done. Will be doing a write-up on the 2017 Forester 2.5i Touring they gave me while the BRZ is in the shop.

Subaru replaced my windshield wipers under warranty, they were 2 years old and streaking across the windshield.

CALL SUBARU OF AMERICA

My friend with a WRX and same TOB issue just got a goodwill replacement approved.

His car has 70k miles and is modified, still covered.

I feel like it’s probably too late since I’ve already approved the repairs, I don’t even know what the contact number is for SoA since google keeps bringing me back to a dealership here in Portland. Having a hard time finding a number on their website.

Thanks, I’ll give them a call. Hopefully it’s not too late to have it covered.

If you haven’t paid yet, there’s a good chance.

Plenty of financial motivation to try!

Just got off the phone with SoA, they said it should be covered and are going to reach out to the dealer. May only need to pay for the clutch and flywheel.

The person I spoke to said they would reach out to the dealer and call me with an update, but I haven’t heard back yet. Fingers crossed it gets taken care of but I’m not getting my hopes up yet.

Well, assuming you wrote the claim number down (or whatever they call it) you should be able to get updates pretty easily, and call SoA back while you’re at the dealer if need be.

Definitely call Subaru of America. Worst case you’ll be reimbursed or they’ll split the cost with you.

They haven’t given me a claim number on it. The dealer checked with Subaru yesterday to see if it should be covered by warranty and Subaru said no, but today when I called SoA the person I spoke to said that it is something that should be covered by the 60k 5 year drive train warranty (car is at 58k currently). I’ll probably keep calling for updates from both the dealer and Subaru.

That was my fault misreading their site. It was a long day yesterday.
