My parking pass expired and I’ll be damned if I’m going to continue spending $50 a month to use one of the city’s parking garages. For a while I just had Michaela drop me off to work but now she has a full-time job and can’t do it any more. Luckily JayhawkJake let me borrow his fixie. Going from a full-sprung walmart Mongoose with 27 gears that weighed a million pounds to a single speed featherweight is weird but I don’t hate it. Leg day is every day.

$50 a month is such a steal. At my job it’s $25 a day.

Fuck that. That would be like two hours of my day down the shitter just so I can have the pleasure of being there.

It’s really insane. A monthly pass is $525, still not a bargain haha.

That’s nuts. Park further away and continue with bicycle/moped/train etc?

People where I work complain that they are required to pay $250/year for parking ($150 if limited to a specific parking area), ‘cause “it used to be free”. I should tell them about the parking situation about your job.

Yes please do. I would pay $250 a year in a heart beat. Hell I would just pay $500 upfront for two years without hesitation.

I take the train to work now (.2 mile walk from house, .2 mile walk from terminus to desk) but I miss commuting by bicycle. It was 40 miles round trip, but we had showers at work so I could drive Monday and Friday to drop off and pick up clothing those days and otherwise just be happy for the other 3.

I was riding around 200 miles a week when i commuted on the bike, now i have to steal away early morning or in the evening to bolster my miles (130 last week + plus 12 running)

I’m In the building where I work it’s at least $20/day. $50/month would be CHEAP in the city.
