As long as you only see one you’re ok. That means they’re still deciding if you’re a threat or not. They prefer to attack in packs of at least three. Two will distract you while the third comes in for the kill.

They’re a lot like Velociraptors that way.

Oh shit, now that you mention it, I’ve been seeing more of them lately. I think they’re circling for the kill. I’m doomed.
