I gave up on facebook. Never installed the app on my new phone last week, barely checked it on a PC since then...
So what do they do? They start E-MAILING ME.

I have never Facebooked, nor do I Twit. It’s social engineering and it’s evil. As far as FB, I figure that if somebody really wants to talk to me they’ll reach out, and there are some people I don’t want to know where I am. Cut the cord, dude. They’re messing with your head.

I will say it’s been helpful in the sense that I found the local Pokémon group and use it for raid meet ups. I have to have to have it for my business FB page. Before a few weeks ago I hadn’t signed in and looked at personal stuff in years

You’re best bet is to not even show your relationship status at all. I had the same problem when I had mine set to single. I opted to just not show it at all, and the ads changed.

I never use Facebook for anything other than updating my profile picture and talking to family once or twice a year. Those notifications “Have you seen [high school classmate]’s comment on [friend they have but I don’t]’s post?” always produce heavy eyerolls from me. It’s like Facebook is mocking me for never using it.

On the bookface a while ago I got invited to some marching band reunion. I didn’t decline cause it was my old band director before the new shitty director took over. The old band director is a cancer survivor and I have the most respect for him. I don’t want to insult him by saying no at the same time I’m not interested in seeing people I don’t like or getting notifications on that event.

My wife and I just never bothered to change our status to ‘married’. So after 2+ years of being ‘engaged’ the ads changed from wedding stuff to dating sites. Apparently 2 years i’m supposed to shit or get off the pot. So what i’m saying is screw the algorithm.
