Made a comment on an NASCAR on NBC article about harvick blaming Jr.s lack of success on the stunted growth of NASCAR, about how not only do i agree with harvick, but that without Jr. having the Earnhardt last name he wouldn’t be the series most popular driver. Especially considering his slightly better than average career stats. So now I’m getting a lot of butthurt Jr fans, but the stats don’t lie.

Jimmie Johnson 565 83

Kyle Busch 448 39

Matt Kenseth 636 38

Kevin Harvick 596 36

Denny Hamlin 420 30

Kurt Busch 598 29

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. 61726

Brad Keselowski 291 23

first number is number of races, second is wins. you tell me whose been most successful. and its not Jr, but theres no arguing with his fans

He’s solidly top 10 in active driver stats, but I completely agree. The torch just went from Sr. to Jr.

Edit. Just read the article. Forgot that Bill Elliot was Mr. Popularity!

You think that’s bad.

Wait until comments about Lewis Hamilton get you accused of being a racist.

Maybe they are upset about your lack of capitalization, lack of punctuation, and run-on sentences.

:)

Realistically, the win rates from those numbers range from 4.2% to 14.7% with Dale Earnhardt Jr. sitting at the bottom. No arguments here about the numbers.

Maybe he’s just a good guy? Doesn’t have to be the best statistically to be the most popular. Sure, his name gives instant recognition, but he’s a much different person than his dad, never tried to live up to his “Intimidator” name. He’s just gone about his business quietly, worked hard and proven himself a good person and driver in his own right, and he’s made himself more accessible to fans than most. Can’t fault the man.

Just don’t take those opinions to reddit. I pissed off a whole bunch of Jeff Gordon fans when they started bitching because NBC didn’t interview him at the Brickyard 400 since he was driving the pace car.

Ill give that his name and marketability following have allowed him to stay in better cars longer than most. But just looking at that list I cant help but think theres an awful lot of champions on that list, thats not bad company.

He’s not bad, possibly one of the best nascar drivers to have to pick up a fathers torch. And its most likely better for his legacy to leave the sport early before he falls into a career rut like Kyle Petty where he was just adding starts and nothing else.

My father in law works for JRM. From the stories I’ve heard, he does seem like a really down to earth guy. I used to think my mother in law exaggerated his invitations to BBQs/holiday parties etc, until she started sending pictures of them at the various gatherings.
