Pulled into the driveway yesterday afternoon...
Neighbor is out in her driveway, looking at her WK Grand Cherokee with puzzlement...
I get out of the car and she says “This is the guy to ask, come over and look at this”...
I walk over and she points generally to the body panels of the Jeep. “I just got back from the car wash. What do you suppose this film is?”
I take a look and come to the conclusion that it’s a thin layer of dirt and grime that just won’t come off without a proper hand wash. The neighbors are outdoorsy types who kayak and camp often and get the Jeep fairly dirty. I tell her as much and recommend a hand wash to get it fully clean.
She then produces a cheap-looking hand wash mitt (that is 100% dry) and proceeds to start rubbing at the dirty body panels.
“Well, it seems to buff out alright”, she says. I smile and turn to walk back home.

Fact: really fine dusty film is great. it’s like rubbing compound. Use the existing oily grime mixed with the fine particulate and road grit and just grind away. End product should sparkle.
