Every time I’ve walked by this thing in the last couple months my first thought has been “this dude has either a major tent caterpillar problem or a huge spider infestation” before remembering it’s just tape. Actually, turns out it’s much more interesting than that...

Kinja'd!!!

The website appears to be very dead and the car to be very abandoned... still, a pretty cool setup. I’d still have no clue about what it was, except for the fact it was the last time I was going to see it so I stopped to take a picture—and noticed the custom “electricfly” seats.

The website is live, although sorely dated. The car is a Pontiac Firefly.

His biggest problem is funding. See how he’s trying to get sponsorship? Not a good plan.

Yup... hence “electricfly”.

And the latest post is from 2014... the site is dead. I don’t care if the guy is still paying the bills to keep it online, it’s dead. Much like the car.

Still cool

To me, it’s not dead until it lands in the hands of an expired domain reseller.

To me it’s dead if it might as well be. You have no idea what’s going on with this guy and his project. His car has been left to rot. If you google his name the most recent hit is also EV related, from 2015...

To all intents and purposes it’s dead. For all I know he’s buggered off permanently and waiting for the domain to expire is easier than taking it down.

It’s only mostly dead.

I have a couple of domains that are mostly dead. One is a family site that I plan to work on someday. The other will become the name of the company I want to start someday. Neither will be dead until I’m dead and my kids don’t want them. Then some reseller will squat on them until they realize that there is no value in either name without me.

You are looking to the future, this website was from the past.

You have an online presence, this dude looks like he’s sworn off the internet altogether.

This website is almost entirely related to that car. The car appears to have taken up permanent residence with little to no attention.

Dead.
